Another great piece that could have come from the pages of A Load of Bull circa 1990. I still argue that we need a big lump in midfield who can head the ball and offer protection at corners. Step forward Boubacar Traore, who could have a key role in the second half of the season, now that he is approaching full fitness. Wolves have finally signed a tall defender (Agbadou) who will also help at corners. I am fed up of seeing us bullied at set-pieces so Agbadou and Traore, if selected, will go someway to 'turning the corner'. However, Newcastle, last night in the cup, looked enormous to me so I am worried about our game next week.

Definitely need more presence at set-pieces and more physicality in duels, Bobby. Interesting shout on Traore.

Thanks. For evidence see the Everton game, as they never score until they play us. Their team (especially midfield) is chock full of players who win the 'second ball'.

A great assessment of where we are with Pereira and where we need to go. Good to hear we’re talking about ‘defenders’ once more and the head coach and his team preparing for, and deciding tactics, match-by-match. A few more like Agbadou defending set pieces - big, physical and effective in the air - along with the likes of the brilliant Semedo will redress the balance of the team. It will also give Sa the cover that he has been denied and allow him to continue to develop his match play as an attack stimulator and not a sometimes panic-stricken stopper.

Really good points, Jeremy. Supporters can clearly see where the gaps are and if Wolves can make a good effort of filling them this window then there will be further cause for optimism.

Thank You Johnny a thought out article , For me this fight will go right down to the wire IF Mr Shi gives him the tools to do the job , yes we need another Cb / defender and yes we need another goal threat However when I look at the Squad off and on the Pitch we need a leader with to cajole and bully the team and opposition on the pitch ….Is John De Wolfe still playing ? …..that’s the type of Character we need to drive us now.

I loved John De Wolf’s brief cameo with Wolves, particularly that away day in the mud at Port Vale. He was probably past his best by the time he came to Molineux but he had a great rapport with the fans. I’d take a 2025 version now!

Thank you. Though I do feel Fosun with another re set another change have to ask do they really want this club. Shi has short comings all over the place and once exposed there’s no hiding. Uncle Jorge keeps turning up to rescue. It’s not a model and a self sustaining one will never work. Net investment by Fosun over last 3 years is £13m . At what price?how many captains sold? How many leave on free? How many over priced purchases? How could you fail not to replace Max? How can you justify season ticket prices? How deluded are you to say “where an established premier league team? Shi?

I think Fosun are committed whilst at the same time wanting investment ( maybe even a whole takeover). The two aren’t mutually exclusive positions. Every club has its price. Jeff Shi is exploring markets at home and abroad in an effort to bring in investment.

Very good article we were bullied all over the pitch on Monday and quite frankly any one in the prem would have bossed us we were so weak in the tackle that worries me because this could be us next season the players missing could easily be gone next season.

I did think Lima and Rodrigo showed some promise but Strand Larsen was poor he should have converted at least one in the first half and it would have been a different game then once Doherty was caught flat footed for the 2nd goal the game was over we are becoming a one man team without the main man We are bang average Fosum need to act soon and show their intentions to the club or sell because we will be the next Southampton replacing the best players with lesser players only end one way

If we can get that physical presence into the side then it should allow some of the talent already here to flourish. Pereira, I think, knows this as he has referenced the lack of “balance” in more than one occasion.

Well constructed breakdown of the situation Johnny. Jeff has to back the team & Vitor in the transfer window. If not, then it will be the same situation again next season. The problem could be that by then It's too late.
